I thought it would be nice for you to be able to engage in some interactive activities so that you could FLEX your understanding of scientific concepts muscles. Have some fun with these!

CLICK ON IMAGE TO GO TO THE INTERACTIVE!

Click on the image to the left to go to a website that offers a BUILD AN ATOM activity that can help you to understand the stucture of an atom.

While you practice building atoms, notice what changes in the Element, Symbol, Mass Number, and Net Charge boxes on the right. If you pay attention to what effect your actions have on each of the information boxes you will become familiar with how to write the symbol for an elelment, where the element is on the page, how mass is effected (notice how electrons affect mass), and what causes the charge to change as atomic particles are added.

To really challenge yourself, collapse (click on the "+" symbol for each) the Element, Symbol, Mass Number, and Net Charge boxes on the right of the screen and then predict what information would apply to the atom you built.

For extra practice, click on the Game tab. You can work your way up through the various levels if you like, but you should eventually be able to complete the fourth level. For an extra challenge, time yourself!

HAVE FUN!

Do you need practice balancing chemical equations? This site gives you the opportunity to practice balancing beginner, intermediate, or advanced equations by selecting the coefficient from a drop-down list, while this website  let's you enter the coefficient to balance five equations. For more of a challenge, try balancing these twenty equations and then check your answers. When you feel you are approaching expert level, try this variety of chemical equations! They are not too difficult, but they do offer a real challenge. OR Try THIS website for some interactive practice in which you can start out at a beginner's level and advance to expert. Loads of fun!
